We had to set up the flashlight on our iPad to be able to have dinner out there. ![]() And again perhaps some bright throw pillows. Adding a potted flowing plant would be welcome. The jade plant is sad with a mere 2 branches hanging on to survive. The bathroom had minimal towels when we arrived and the amenities are few and humdrum. The room is bland at best … some fresh flowers or even a plant would add a little pop - perhaps some new throw pillows? It feels sterile … nothing cozy or inviting. We had the same arrangements on our previous visit and it was special. This time it is ordinary, dull, nothing memorable and feels exorbitant for what we are experiencing. Our casita is approximately $2500 a night. This trip is a big disappointment and I do not think we will return as resort guests again. We decided to do it again and I am writing this review right now from our casita. Two years ago we came with our puppy for a little get away. My husband and I live in Santa Fe and often come to the bar for a drink and a bite - always excellent from service to food to the gorgeous view. Without a doubt, we will travel back to Santa Fe just to visit again!… We’ve been fortunate enough to stay at excellent properties, including other Four Seasons’, around the world and have zero hesitation in saying this may well be the best we have ever been to. When paying $$$ for a hotel, we really expect the best and have heightened expectations when justifying the price. It was comfortable and meant we were able to go into town for a few drinks and get back safely. The shuttle into Santa Fe was a nice touch. Perhaps sharing the week’s activities in advance for inbound guests would avoid future disappointment. Had we known it was an option, we would have booked into it, so it was a shame we missed out on that. Unfortunately as nobody had booked this 24 hours prior it wasn’t being run. On the day we arrived, we tried to book same day into the cooking class. We also used the complimentary spa facilities which was pleasant. A very enjoyable way to spend an hour in the morning. We were the only ones on our 9am hike and Daniel was really very good. We had room service one night and we were a little disappointed by the chicken sandwich - it just didn’t seem fresh and Four Seasons standard. We had an early lunch and were really impressed by the sandwiches and soup. We did the margarita demo which included some delicious drinks that our server (Donna Lee - she was really wonderful!) made to our tastes. We didn’t order lots but what we had was very good. All of the food and beverages were excellent. We especially enjoyed having s’mores in our room! The furnishings and amenities were top notch, as you’d expect in a Four Seasons. ![]() We had a fireplace in our casita and the fire butlers who came to light the fire were brilliant. ![]() There was a separate shower (which was one of the best we’ve ever been in) and bath. We booked a Mountain View Casita and it was stunning, especially in the snow! The room was enormous, more like an apartment. Our room was ready even though we were early, and we even had an anniversary surprise brought to us. We were offered some hot apple cider which was delicious and shown the activity schedule for the week. On checking in, the staff were wonderful and everyone friendly. My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Rancho Encantado - and from the moment we arrived we could not have wished for better.
